I may just be from a lack of understanding, but I find the works of Edgar Allan Poe to be obnoxiously whiny.

I would give everything and anything to meet Poe. I dream of marrying him constantly, not just for his writing, as brilliant as they are, but there is more to him than alcohol and horror. I want to hug him. That’s all he needed.
